TWO NIGHTS IN GRENADA

Finding our guest house in the ancient Albayzin Quarter, Granada was one thing. Squeezing the hire car through the narrow Medieval Moorish streets to get there was another.

Anne is a great navigator. I think we're pretty good in those stressy moments in the cockpit when we are trying to pilot ourselves into cities we've never been in before, all without a GPS approach system. Yes, we will get one one day, but we still haven't. We only had to reverse out of one street when it got narrower and narrower and the pedestrians looked more and more entertained. Cool heads prevailed, god knows what the restricted entry/camera surveillance signs meant, but we got there.

Turns out our accommodation backed right onto the wealthiest family and the grandest property in Granada. Direct descendants of Franco and very comfortable thankyou.

Grenada was about the Alhambra, the Moorish palaces, but we also climbed the local peaks and trod many of the streets and different quarters of the old town. We did the tour of the Alhambra with a guide and a group. Ok except for the mincing queen who had to have a picture taken of himself with the same fixed smile in front of pretty much every single new angle. It wore a bit thin with the other hundred people wanting to take a pic too. The fact I kept him out of most of my pics is a triumph.
