ROASTED CHESTNUTS OUTSIDE THE ALCAZAR PALACE |
SATURDAY
30TH DECEMBER 2013
Seville,
the home of the good looking woman. Well, it sure felt like that
after 22 hours of travel from Marrakech to Seville straight through.
We checked in to our hotel at Patio De La
Alameda where we got an upgrade to a larger room making us very
comfortable for the next three nights.
By
chance we had chosen a very good hotel in a very good area. Well ok, we did a lot of research as ever, but in the end you never know and have to hope you were right in your selection despite what some people say. It's impossible to please everyone. Some reviews on Trip Advisor seem to be by cranky people who aren't happy to embrace where they are unless it's a replica of home. Despite what we had read, our room was very quiet and comfortable, the bed was good and the shower was strong and hot. The water even gurgled effortlessly down the plug hole. We were happy. It's rare to get good wifi in your room. A little sussing out of routers and networks gets you where the signal is best.
We stepped out on the street, showered and refreshed for our first night in three weeks in a country that doesn't frown on alcohol. Wine bars, Tapas, Conviviality, Good Looking Women and Families playing, it felt great. Anne and I had a wine outdoors despite the cold and toasted our good fortune, good travels and good choice in partners before we headed up the street for Tapas.
