THERE IS GREAT BEER IN LIFE FOR THOSE WILLING TO TAKE THE JOURNEY |
HAPPILY GOING NOWHERE MAKING MEMORIES
Trizonia to Galaxidi
Friday30th August to
Tues 3rd Sept 2013
Trizonia marina is no
electricity, no water, no charge and has been so for at least 40
years because that is how it was when Ron was here last. The marina
was never finished and has become a quaint rundown, eroding, rusting,
popular spot for some people to let their boats die judging by the
dust depth on some boats.
It's a really great
spot. A short walk from the marina across the neck reveals a
quintessential postcard quay and restaurants right on the water. No
cars on the island adds to the sleepy ambience.
We stayed a total of
four nights on the island. No one seemed in a hurry to leave. Great
fish restaurants and a good yachtie community including our four
Aussie boats of Lati. Annacam, Scarlet and Jenna, in fact it was a
very enjoyable social time. I'm just sorry I missed out on Desperate Dave's Domino game due to blogging catchup. Lifetime memories are made of this stuff.
Bill tried to get a bus
up to Messolonghi to see his brother John on 'Pave' but there was no
service on a Sunday.
We may not swim one or
two kms on a Saturday morning like in the swimming club but swimming
every day out to the third yellow bouy gets you into a nice rhythm.
It also gets you your daily free shower on the beach even if it is
cold and rather refreshing. The water temp at Trizonia was cooler
than Vathi but now we are at Galaxidi, it has warmed up again to 25oC.
Our waitress at one
restaurant was Lena, a fascinating 19 year old much wiser than her
years. She filled us in on the local scene, the political scene and
made disarming observations on most things. We exchanged email
addresses and invited her to stay when she found herself in
Australia. She is studying tourism but I suspect she will go much
further. She is going to Berlin to further her studies and like a
local woman we met on the dock in Croatia who was studying tourism
also, they both are looking to escape and improve their chances of
success.
We finally upped anchor
and motored 24 nautical miles to Galaxidi which will be the access
point for us to Visit Delphi.
